Audrey M. Barr serves as corresponding secretary of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Convention and past secretary of Issachar District. She’s a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church, where her spiritual needs are met under the leadership of her Pastor Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Bennett,. Sis. Barr serves in the New Disciple Ministry, Visitation and Bereavement Ministry, Missionary Ministry, Old Testament Sunday School, and as a member of the Pastor’s Sabbatical Team.
Sis. Barr was born and resides in Bridgeport Connecticut, where at an early age, under the guidance of her Mother, the late Jessie Marrow, she was taught how to be a humble servant, and champion of those who are less fortunate. She’s known as a community activist in the North End of Bridgeport, where she’s the president of the NEPS (North End Progressive Seniors), the chairperson of the Reservoir Avenue NRZ (Neighborhood Revitalization Zone), City of Bridgeport Food Policy Commissioner, Assistant to the Treasurer of the NECC (North End Community Council), and works with the Tenants Association President of Trumbull Gardens Housing Project for the betterment of the tenants relationships with their surrounding neighbors.
Sis. Barr is married for more than 41 years to Richard Barr, and they are the proud parents of Nicole (Latimer) and Richard, Jr. (Alicia), and grandparents of Audra, Daiquan, Niasya, Kyle and Ava.
Sis. Barr retired from AT&T (formerly SNET and SBC) in 2010 with 42 years of service, starting her career in Operator Services and worked throughout her career in Network, Marketing and Sales of Deregulated Services, as a supervisor, trainer, development of methods, procedures and training, and ending as a special projects consultant.
